COVID-19 UPDATE

Hi South Texas Comic Con Fans! We would like to take a moment to provide an update on our event. As of today (Mar 13, 2020) all STXCC events will be taking place as scheduled during April 24-26, 2020! In light of the current COVID-19 situation, we are making the health and safety of all our fans and local community our top priority. Please bear in mind that our event is 6 weeks away and this situation is evolving daily. We are working with currently available information, and will update as necessary.

We are dedicated to staying up to date with the guidance of national and local authorities, and are working with the McAllen Convention Center to ensure cleaning processes keep the facility sanitized. We will be taking the following precautionary safety measures -

  • • Increased cleaning and disinfection of all high-volume touchpoints
  • • Sanitizing stations for public use
  • • Installing signage at the event with preventative hygiene instructions and recommendations
  • • Any other precautions recommended by local health and CDC officials

Currently the CDC still assesses the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 to be low for most people in the United States (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html#risk-assessment). Our team will continue to monitor the situation closely as things evolve in the coming weeks and we will follow-up with attendees as needed if the advisories change.

We would like to remind the public of a few guidelines that can help keep us all healthy, not only at our event but in general. If you feel unwell or you are coughing or sneezing, stay home and rest. Proper hand washing and covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing will protect yourself and others.

We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing a fun and safe event to the Rio Grande Valley.
